Introduction to the Department of Microbiology
The Department of Microbiology is responsible for the microbiology test of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). It can carry out registration inspection, supervisory inspection, arbitration inspection and emergency inspection of TCM. The Department has currently obtained CNAS accreditation with 2 microbiological parameters, including microbiological examination and specified microorganisms such as total aerobic microbial count, total yeasts and molds count, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella, Escherichia coli and Bile-tolerant Gram-negative bacteria.
The Department of Microbiology has 3 members who are all master’s degree holders. It is a young and professional team. There are 9 laboratories. For microbiology zone, there are biosafety level 2 (P2) laboratory, sterile area, incubation room, preparation room, washing and autoclave room. For molecular biology zone, there are reagent preparation room, sample preparation room, amplification region, and analysis area.
The laboratory is equipped with approximately 113 instruments, including VITEK® Automatic microbial identification and drug sensitivity analysis system, nucleic acid extraction and purification system, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines, fluorescent quantitative PCR (qPCR) systems, autoclaves, biological microscope etc. The laboratory employs a “unidirectional flow system” environmental management model and maintains strict monitoring of cleanliness to ensure the reliability of test results.
