Department of Physics and Chemistry
The Department of Physics and Chemistry is responsible for the physical and chemical testing and establishment of quality standard for Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). It can carry out registration inspection, supervisory inspection, arbitration inspection and emergency inspection of TCM. The Department has obtained CNAS accreditation with 116 physical and chemical parameters and can perform tests for TCM and proprietary Chinese medicines according to the Chinese Pharmacopoeia such as identification, assay, content determination, pesticide residues, heavy metals and harmful elements, mycotoxins, sulfur dioxide residue, etc.
The Department of Physics and Chemistry has 6 members, with 2 Ph.D. holders and 4 M. Sc. holders. It is a young and highly professional team. There are 22 laboratories including LC Laboratory, LC-MS Laboratory, GC and GC-MS Laboratory, Macroscopic and Microscopic Identification Laboratory, Spectroscopy Laboratory and TLC Laboratory. The Department is equipped with around 290 instruments, including Orbitrap LC-MS systems, triple quadrupole LC-MS/MS systems, triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS systems, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers (ICP-MS), ultra-high performance liquid chromatography systems (UHPLC), gas chromatography systems(GC), thin-layer chromatography system (TLC), and capillary electrophoresis system (CE), etc.
