Macao Centre for Testing of Chinese Medicine, University of Macau
The Macao Centre for Testing of Chinese Medicine, University of Macau (MCTCM), endorsed by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR and supported by the Macao SAR government, is a technical support unit of the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau.
The preparation for the establishment of MCTCM started in July 2021 and was officially approved in January 2022. MCTCM is a testing centre with one Director appointed in July 2022. In May 2023, MCTCM was accredited by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 with its first test item of “Determination of Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic, Mercury and Copper in Chinese Herbal Medicine”. Some on-going tests (determination of sulphur dioxide residue, aflatoxins, and microbiological examination of traditional Chinese medicines) have participated several proficiency tests with satisfactory results. MCTCM will continue to expand its testing capability of CNAS accreditation, following the Chief Executive’s advocation in the Policy Address 2023 to support the development of testing centre for Chinese medicine.
